THE MARTIAL ARTS
The Martial Arts have certain rules that are important for you to
know and follow, because they are good all the time, not just in the
- Effort: To try to do your best all the time.
- Ettiquette: To have good manners
all the time.
- Character: To be yourself. Don't
try to copy other people. Be the best that you can be.
- Sincerity: To be truthful and
- Self-control: To control your
actions and emotions.
- Sign in for every
class, attendance will be kept and is required to be invited for

- A respectful bow is to
be given to the instructor as you enter the dojo and whenever you
enter or exit the workout area.
- Students must wear a
clean, pressed, white gi to work out in.
Only school patches and Mizu Gami patches are allowed on the gi.
- No food or drink,
except water, allowed in the dojo. No profanity. No smoking. This
includes smoking outside the dojo door. No wearing of jewelry, gum
chewing, talking or laughing while class is in session. No
touching or leaning on walls.
- Toenails and
fingernails are to be kept trim.
- The school is not
responsible for lost articles.
- A student who damages
or destroys any equipment or furnishing of the dojo will replace
them at their own expense.
- Students must arrive
for class 10 - 15 minutes early. Students who arrive late must
wait for permission to enter the dojo floor. No one leaves the
workout area without permission.
- In hot weather only,
t-shirts with school logo may be worn. No plain t-shirts.
- Children must maintain
a C+ average in school. Anyone who does not do so or misuses
his/her skills may be suspended.
- The bathroom is closed
during class time unless it is an emergency. Please use the
bathroom before or after class.
- If you have a question
during class, please raise your hand and the instructor will
assist you. Do not call out or wave your hand.
- No one, regardless of
rank, will teach a student new moves without the permission of
- Students are expected
to help cleanup at the end of class.
- Dues should be paid at
the beginning of each month, unless you speak with Sensei. If
monthly dues are not paid within the first seven days, there is a
$10.00 late fee charged.
- When a black belt
enters the school, yame (stop), or kiotsuke (attention) will be called. Students
will stand at attention as a group and bow in courtesy.
- All equipment and
patches must be purchased through Sensei
